Retro Happy Hour at The Market Place

Young professionals gather Thursday evenings in downtown Asheville, an alternative to the late night bar scene. Old school music, retro cocktails at discounted prices and a dress code that has a “Mad Men” slant creates a warm, upscale vibe in the already cozy venue. And the event seems to be a hit. The number of attendees has averaged between 30 and 50 and has continued to grow. The event was created by Kelly Denson of Lush Life Productions as an alternative to the late night bar scene.

“The Retro Happy Hour events bring a big city feel to our small community. People seem to dress up a little more, go out earlier — then you can go home at a reasonable hour,” says Denson. Retro Happy Hour takes place every Thursday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Market Place, 20 Wall Street. Dress: Retro optional. No cover. For more information contact Chef William Dissen of the Market Place at (828) 252-4162.
