This free, self-guided tour takes place August 15 & 16, 2015.
The annual event features the artwork of members of the Leicester Artists, and invited guest artists, working from their studios located throughout the scenic countryside in Leicester, just outside of Asheville. Several artists will also be exhibiting at Addison Farms Vineyard in Leicester.
This year’s tour features the work of several well-established painters working in styles from realism to impressionism. There is an artist who hand pours aromatherapy candles, a blacksmith whose ironworks reflect a love of nature, a wood worker who creates fun and functional small pieces of furniture and jewelry. Our fabric artists create quilts, fine hand woven textiles, and hand felted fashion wear.
Not to be missed is Leicester’s own resident broom maker as he plies his unique take on the regional Appalachian art form. Our lamp artist designs warm and welcoming fine art additions for your home with handmade paper and natural fibers. Jewelry artists create must-have selections using gemstones, wood, Egyptian faience and porcelain.
We round out the offerings with the ubiquitous potters of North Carolina, each interpreting the art form with a nod to the ancient and the contemporary.
A printed version of the 2015 Come to Leicester brochure is available at finer establishments regionally, by request, and from our sponsors. Full information regarding the tour, including an interactive map and artists information, can be found at www.cometoleicester.org.
The tenth annual “Come to Leicester” studio tour will be held Saturday & Sunday, August 15 & 16, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Details at www.cometoleicester.org.
