You’re bound to recognize Jackie Tohn from one of dozens of roles in major films, Netflix series and television shows- and you’ll see more of the burgeoning star as her career continues to skyrocket. On Saturday, November 12 at 8pm, you can see her live performance at Tryon Fine Arts Center.
Jackie has made a name for herself in comedic acting, going back to a recurring role on The Nannyas a child. More recently, she’s shared the screen with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in the hit film Sisters and Dax Shepard and Michael Pena in ChiPS. You may have seen her as a guest star on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rules of Engagement, The Sopranos, House of Lies, Castle, and many more.
Jackie has also appeared as a cast member of Bravo TV’s songwriting competition show Platinum Hit and as a semifinalist on American Idol Season 8. Jackie was recently cast in the Netflix series G.L.O.W., inspired by the true story of the 1980’s women’s wrestling league, now in production.
Jackie’s latest project is the upcoming Netflix original movie A Futile and Stupid Gesture. The movie follows the tragic story of Doug Kenney, who edited the Harvard Lampoon before going on to create the popular humor magazine National Lampoon and write comedy classics Caddyshack and Animal House. Jackie is playing Gilda Radner, a close friend of Doug Kenney who performed on National Lampoon Radio and later starred in Saturday Night Live.
Jackie brings her signature comedic talent from the screen to the stage with her Saturday, November 12 performance at TFAC. With a unique blend of stand up comedy and original singer/songwriter talent, Jackie’s performance “is pretty pop with a twitch; a paradox of vulnerability and arrogance, honesty and exaggeration, swagger and silliness (LA.com).”
Tickets are $35 for adults and $17 for students, available by calling the TFAC Box Office at 828-859-8322 or online at tryonarts.org.
