Coming to the Mark Bettis Studio & Gallery in the River Arts District “INSPIRATION”, a curated show based on Peggy Guggenheim’s personal collection of 20th century masterpieces that range in style from Cubism and Surrealism to Abstract Expressionism. Over fifteen selected Western North Carolina artists will each create an original piece of art inspired by one of the great artists of the modern movement such as Picasso, Twombly, Miro, de Kooning and more.
“After watching a documentary about Peggy Guggenheim I decided to have an exhibition inviting a select group of artists to each make a piece inspired by an artist from her collection.
This process has challenged the participants, painters and sculptors, to push themselves out of their comfort zone, interpreting the style and methods of one of these masters while creating a work of their own. I’m excited to see what they come up with. Prepare yourself for a flashback!”

Opening reception will be held on September 8th from 5:30 – 8pm at Mark Bettis Studio & Gallery, 123 Roberts Street in the WEDGE Building. “INSPIRATION” will be a ‘Salon’ style show; a flashback in time to the age of glamour.
