The 48 Hour Film challenge will take over the streets of Asheville from June 19-21, 2015 as hundreds of Asheville residents race to complete a film in just one weekend.
The 48 Hour Film Project began in 2001 as a local film challenge among friends. Since then, it has evolved into a global phenomenon and the world’s largest filmmaking competition.
This year, the 48 Hour Film Project will tour more than 130 cities, challenging more than 60,000 people to complete an entire film from writing and casting to filming and editing in a mere 48 hours! In all, more than 4,000 films will be created as part of the 2015 competition.
On June 19, 2015, participating teams will gather at Asheville Brewing Company on Coxe Ave. where they will be given a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue they must work into their film. Films submitted even one minute late on June 21 will be disqualified.
This year, Asheville will be one of a record 130 cities worldwide – from Beijing to Lisbon – competing in the 48 Hour Film Project.
Submitted films will be screened for the public and judged by a panel of experts. The Best Film from Asheville will be chosen and winners will then be in the running for top honors in Hollywood, CA at Filmapalooza 2015, the 48 Hour Film Project’s annual awards event.
Competition starts Friday, June 19, 2015. Teams meet to receive details for their films from 5:30-7 p.m. at Asheville Brewing Company on Coxe Ave.
Competition ends Sunday, June 21. Teams submit the films they’ve created at 7:30 p.m. sharp. at Asheville Brewing Company on Coxe Ave. Films must be submitted by 7:30 p.m. to be on time!
