HART theatre will close out it’s 2014 main stage season with an elaborate production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” opening October 24 for a two week run. The play will feature professional actor David Sebren in the title role, Kirsten Daniel as Lady Macbeth and New York actor Adam Kampouris as Macduff. Kampouris is returning to HART after a five year absence. He was last seen at HART as Hamlet.

The production is under the direction of HART Executive Director Steven Lloyd, and is being traditionally staged, set in the 12th Century, with elaborate costuming, an original score by David and Sean Bruce, set design by UNC- School of the Arts design student Tony Debernardo and broadsword fight choreography by Kampouris.

For those not familiar with theater superstitions, “Macbeth” is considered a cursed play and many actors feel that even saying the name of the title character outside of the production is bad luck. The play is usually referred to as “The Scottish Play” and the title character as Mackers. Ironically the play was and continues to be one of the Bard’s most successful. HART is doubling it’s task by actually performing the play on Halloween. So if you are looking for a memorable way to spend All Hallows Eve, go for witches, and a cursed play.

The production will also feature Alison Young, Michael Beadle, Art Moore, Italo Medalius, David Hopes, Tom Dewees, John Winfield, Brian Segraves, Jacob Hunt, Amy Hunt, and Ellery Neil.

The show will have performances October 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 at 7:30 and October 26 and Nov. 2 at 3pm. Tickets are available online at www.harttheatre.com and from the HART Box Office at 828 456 6322, Tues. – Sat. from 1-5pm.
