Agnes of God

January 17 & 18 at 7:30 p.m.; January 19 at 3 p.m.
(Hold over/snow dates January 24, 25, 26.

Tony nominated Best Play written by John Pielmeier; with Lyn Donley, Suzanne Tinsley and Hanni Muerdter. Directed by Wanda Taylor.

This is one of Broadway’s biggest hits and a star vehicle for many great actresses, including; Elizabeth Ashley, Amanda Plummer, Geraldine Page, Diane Carrol, Jane Fonda, Carrie Fisher, Lee Remick, and Ann Bancroft.

The play tells the story of a novice nun who gives birth and insists that the dead child was the result of a virgin conception. A psychiatrist and the mother superior of the convent clash during the resulting investigation.

Tony nominated Best Play – Pulitzer Prize finalist. Written by Jon Robin Baitz. Directed by Charles Mills with Steve Lloyd, Lyn Donley, Julie Kinter, Sarah Lipham.

The play’s events occur around the Christmas 2004 holiday, when the family of Polly and Lyman Wyeth gather in Palm Springs, California. Their daughter Brooke Wyeth returns home after six years. Polly’s sister Silda is also visiting, out of a time spent in rehab.

Polly and Lyman are Republicans, while Silda is a liberal. The sisters co-wrote a series of MGM comedies in the 1960s. Brooke announces to her family that she is about to publish a memoir dredging up a pivotal and tragic event in the family’s history—a wound they don’t want reopened.

Frozen

Tony nominated Best Play by Bryony Lavery. Directed by Andrew Gall with Eric Martinez, Frances Davis and Jennifer Sanner.

Frozen tells the story of the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl, Rhona. The play follows Rhona’s mother and killer over the years that follow. They are linked by a doctor who is studying what causes men to commit such crimes. The themes of the play include emotional paralysis and forgiveness.

Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks

February 28 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m.; March 2 at 3 p.m. (Hold over/snow dates March 7, 8, 9). Written by Richard Alfieri. With Julie Kinter and Cord Scott.

Lily, an aging but formidable retiree, hires Michael, an acerbic dance instructor, to give her dance lessons in her condo in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. Antagonism between a gay man and the wife of a Southern Baptist minister gives way to profound compatibility as they swing dance, tango, foxtrot, and cha-cha while sharing barbs and intimacies along with the dance steps.

POE, An Evening of Chills and Thrills

Directed by San Greenalch. “The Raven,” by Edgar Allen Poe, with James Bradley. “The Black Cat,” by Edgar Allen Poe, with Tom Deweese. “The Monkey’s Paw,” a one-act by W.W. Jacobs with San Greenalch, Bob Greenalch, James Bradley, Tom Deweese and John Winfield.

Most Improved Camper: The Real Life Adventures of C.J. Deering

March 28 & 29 at 7:30 p.m.; March 30 at 3 p.m.
(Hold over/snow dates April 4 & 5)

Comic storyteller C.J. Deering brings her all too true tall tales of life, and recovery and survival to the HART Studio by popular demand.

Reserve Tickets for the Winter Studio Season

Every winter we present some of the best theater in the region in the intimate Feichter Studio. The studio seats 65, with only three rows surrounding the playing area. Tickets are general admission but performances often sell out, so patrons are encouraged to make reservations or buy tickets in advance.
