ABIPA is honored to be named as a grantee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars, a three-year national leadership development program that offers interprofessional teams of health professionals (spanning a wide range of disciplines) the opportunity to build and develop unique skills to lead teams, working with and across communities and organizations to build a Culture of Health.

Kathey Avery, RN, BSN, DCCC, Frank Castelblanco, RN, DNP and Shuchin Shukla, MD, fellows in Clinical Scholars, are local health care professionals that will lead the regional project aptly branded, Health Engagement Leading to Prevention (H.E.L.P.). They are passionate about the collaboration the fellowship/grant will support as they work to solve complex community health problems! 

Health Engagement Leading to Prevention (H.E.L.P.) STATEMENT: “H.E.L.P. is on the way!” All of us deserve to live a long and healthy life in a safe environment. To make this happen, we must tackle the root causes of poor physical and mental health among the high-risk individuals within our communities. H.E.L.P.’s goal is to address the issues comprehensively with specific focus on mental health, especially cognitive dysfunction. With interdisciplinary partnerships with others in our field, we can leverage our skill-sets and work to mitigate the social determinants of health. Our elderly, disabled, and homeless populations need to live in environments where there are consistent, holistic, and adequate support structures that help them thrive. Together, we can facilitate and build a safe and healthy community environment.
